When you grab a load of laundry out of the washer, do you ever stop to think of how much heavier it is than when you put it in? This is because there could be as much as a whole gallon of water trapped in the clothes, even after spinning out in the washer. This is why the clothes are run through the dryer afterward, but considering all that water, have you ever thought about what happens to it when you run the dryer? Well, it goes out of the exhaust of the dryer as steam. This is the reason why it is so important that your dryer vent is properly set up.

There are some homeowners that have a lint trap inside their home that the dryer vents through, but what will happen then is that the gallon of water that was in your clothes is going to be released into your home as steam. This steam will then condense and possibly be the start of water-related damage, such as rot and mold. Instead, you need to make sure your dryer vents to the outside, using a duct that is as straight and short as possible.
