So you have a leaky roof… you know that water is coming in but you don’t exactly know where or how. How are you going to search for and fix the problem? In this article we will discuss a few tips and tricks that will help you to get your roof back in tip top shape.
The first thing you might want to do is go into your attic if you have one and check to see where the leak is coming from there. Look around in all crevices, especially near where your rafters are located. If you do happen to find the leak, great! Now what you need to do is get on the roof and search for where that leak is coming from. It could be in the shingles, or even something as simple as a shingle that is not properly tacked down. Or it could be as complex as the plywood underneath the shingles rotting. The key is to make sure you find the leak and find it on the roof.
Once you find the affected area, remove all materials affected by the leak. Then replace the materials with new materials that are the same color and type of material so that it will match the rest of the house. Once this is done, check to make sure the leak is fixed in your attic, and after that, you should be good to go!
