Something that will make a great addition to a home is some beautiful masonry work. This is common in older homes, but sometimes, age, wear and tear will make masonry work look less presentable. It could even start to deteriorate and show cracks. What can you do to make sure that your outdoor masonry work is in good shape? Well, your primary enemy in the struggle to keep it in good shape is water. When water enters microscopic cracks of the masonry, this can make the cracks expand, especially in the wintertime, and that in turn will lead to larger cracks that can be exposed.
Initially, your masonry work was probably protected by a coating layer that kept water away, but this wears off with time. Applying a new layer of coating regularly should keep the situation from worsening.
Having proper grading away from the masonry work will further protect it from being exposed to water.
